Come run or walk with us March 28, 2015 at the University of Dayton RecPlex to raise awareness of the war and humanitarian crisis in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Since 1994 over 6 million people have died due to warfare, disease and starvation in the eastern Congo. Violence and rape is epidemic. According to the UN the Democratic Republic of Congo has the highest incidence of rape in the world. Rape is used as weapon of war to disseminate terror, demoralize to population and disrupt society. In the eastern Congo war zones over 1000 women are raped a month. Children suffer from starvation and disease, and lack of access to education. Familes are disrupted by death and displacement.
You are invited to stay after the run to learn more about the situation in the Congo and what Project Congo is doing to help.
